2008 was the 10th Anniversary of the British Musical Fireworks Championships and to tie in with European Capital Of Culture Year in Liverpool they celebrated by inviting all past British Musical Fireworks Champions back to Southport for a Champion of Champions Event.
Not so lucky this year! Due to a technical fault we were firing half a second behind the music which ruined our chances of claiming this title!
The event is one of Southport’s most spectacular, a competition providing a visual feast of entertainment for thousands of spectators over one weekend.
Each of the previous champions, all top professional UK firework companies, fired a display lasting approximately 16 – 18 minutes.
The displays synchronised to music, illuminated the Southport skyline and cast magnificent reflections across the Marine Lake. These displays were judged by professional and lay judges and at the end of the competition the winner was crowned Champion of Champions.
